Art works by Melanie Cooper–Dobbin
Artist's Statement

My work has always been about catharsis, sometimes they just happen almost on their own, sometimes they have me in knots for months. I draw largely from my own fragments of memory and experience, but I am also inspired by text, graffiti, colour, texture, and mythology. Conceptually, I am also interested in chaos and movement, contradiction and the accidental.

As an artist, I find it extremely difficult to explain away or speak about my work. I am never happy with the words that come out and believe that works should stand on their own without the support of clever talk, anyway.
